Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) Defining the Core website is receiving national recognition. The website is the winner of the 2013 Best of the Web award by the Center for Digital Education. This prestigious award recognizes K-12 school districts and post-secondary institutions for their outstanding websites and commitment to using technology to support learning and promote achievement.
The BCPS Defining the Core website, www.definingthecore.com, provides parents, teachers, administrators, staff and community members with important information on the state’s transition to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). On the website, visitors can easily find answers to frequently asked questions about CCSS, participate in group discussions, participate in professional learning opportunities, see videos of CCSS aligned instruction and get the latest information on the new education standards for literacy and mathematics.
“We are humbled and honored by this recognition. I am very proud of the creativity, vision, dedication and tenacity of the Instruction and Interventions staff to create and sustain the Defining the Core website,” said Dr. Marie DeSanctis, BCPS Executive Director of Instruction and Interventions. “The website serves as a valuable tool for communicating information to Broward County parents, community and staff. It also attracts visitors from around the nation and has become a model resource in the transition to the Common Core.”
